GPS coordinates: 36.305144,-76.222039		A detachment of the Southampton cavalry arrived in Elizabeth City on 18 April 1862. They bivouacked in a warehouse owned by John Burgess. Lt. Charles Flusser of the USS Commodore Perry shelled them out of the house and outbuildings the following morning prior to the Battle of South Mills.
