The Henry M. Shaw Camp, #1304, N.C.V., was formed by former Confederate soldiers and sailors in 1901. The camp was chartered on 5 February 1901.

The Camp held its second annual reunion at Currituck Court House on 24 July 1902. The featured speakers were Dr. H. M. Shaw and A. M. Simmons.

On 23 July, 1903, the Henry M. Shaw Camp held its third annual reunion. At this time, the camp members posed for a photograph. (The photo can be seen in the Photos section.) Forty veterans are in the photo. Gen. W. P. Roberts of Gates County was scheduled to deliver the oration, but he was unable to attend. A. M. Simmons of Currituck spoke to the audience in his place. Lt. Samuel T. Ansell also spoke.

UCV rosters for the Shaw Camp exist through 1915, but the camp apparently existed as late as 1919. National dues were last paid on 3 October 1916. The $1.00 sum paid indicates there were still 10 members at that time. The 1919 national records contain a notation that Commander James Caffee was deceased.

There were 24 charter members in the camp. The highest membership occurred in 1905 with 55 comrades paying dues of 10 cents each. A total of 71 men were members at some time during the existence of the camp.
